Commissions
I undertake photographic commissions for publications, organisations, authors, businesses and individuals.
My work is documentary in approach, with an emphasis on people, place and the environments in which we live and work. I am interested in photographs that do more than record a subject — photographs that communicate atmosphere, character and context, and can form part of a larger story.
Documentary
Photography for projects involving people, communities, places, work and contemporary life.
I can work to an existing brief or collaborate from the early stages of a project to develop the photographic approach. Assignments can range from a single shoot to longer-term documentary work.
Editorial
Photography for magazines, newspapers, books, essays and other publications.
I work across portraiture, location photography and documentary assignments, producing images that can stand independently or work alongside written material.
Portraits
Environmental and documentary portraits of artists, writers, professionals and others whose work or experiences form part of a wider story.
I generally prefer to photograph people in environments that have some connection to who they are and what they do, allowing the surroundings to become part of the portrait.
Places & Projects
Photography of buildings, workplaces, landscapes and ongoing projects.
I am particularly interested in the relationship between people and their environments, and in documenting places as they change over time. This can include construction and architectural projects, workplaces, cultural spaces and other locations with a distinct story or purpose.
Visual Stories
Some projects do not fit neatly into a conventional commission.
I am available to work with authors, researchers, organisations and individuals developing longer-form projects where photography is part of a broader body of research, writing or storytelling.
This may involve developing a photographic series, documenting a subject over an extended period, or creating images specifically for a book, publication or exhibition.
Working Together
Every commission is different. I am happy to work from an established brief or to become involved at an earlier stage, helping determine what photography can contribute to a project.
